Please read this Medical Disclaimer carefully before using the Sporty Doctor app, website, or any of the content, workouts, videos, or programs we provide (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to this disclaimer.
For Educational and Informational Purposes Only
The Sporty Doctor Service is provided for general educational, informational, and wellness purposes only. The workouts, exercises, videos, articles, and other content are designed to support mobility, flexibility, strength, and general fitness for a broad audience. They are not tailored to your individual health circumstances and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, injury, or medical condition.
Not Medical Advice
Although Sporty Doctor was created by Dr. Kristina DeMatas, a licensed and board-certified Sports Medicine and Family Physician, the content she provides through the Service is general wellness and educational information — not medical advice. Nothing in the Service is a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment from your own qualified healthcare provider. Always seek the advice of your physician or another qualified health professional with any questions you have about a medical condition, an injury, or before beginning, changing, or stopping any exercise, treatment, or health program. Never disregard professional medical advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you have read, watched, or heard through the Service.
No Doctor–Patient Relationship
Your use of the Service does not create a doctor–patient, physician–client, or any other professional treatment relationship between you and Dr. Kristina DeMatas or anyone associated with Sporty Doctor. Dr. DeMatas is not acting as your personal physician, has not examined you, and is not providing individualized medical care through the Service. Communicating with us — including through the app, email, comments, or social media — does not establish such a relationship.
Consult Your Physician Before You Begin
Exercise carries inherent risks, and not every activity is appropriate for every person. You should consult your physician before starting this or any exercise program, and obtain medical clearance if you:
- have or are recovering from an injury;
- have a chronic condition or a heart, lung, blood pressure, bone, joint, or other medical condition;
- have experienced chest pain, dizziness, or fainting;
- are pregnant, recently gave birth, or are postpartum;
- have recently had surgery;
- are over the age of 65 and are not accustomed to regular activity; or
- take medication or have any other reason to believe exercise may be unsafe for you.
If your physician advises that you should not participate, please follow their guidance.
Assumption of Risk
Physical activity — including the workouts, stretches, and movements demonstrated in the Service — involves the risk of injury. By choosing to participate, you do so voluntarily and knowingly assume all risks of injury, disability, or other harm that may result. You are responsible for exercising within your own limits, using proper form and any recommended equipment safely, working out in a safe environment, and stopping whenever a movement causes pain or discomfort. Perform only the exercises and modifications that are appropriate for your fitness level and health.
Stop and Seek Care
Stop exercising immediately and seek medical attention if you experience chest pain or pressure, shortness of breath, dizziness, faintness, an irregular heartbeat, or sharp, sudden, or persistent pain. Listen to your body — discomfort is a signal to stop, not to push through.
In case of a medical emergency, call 911 (or your local emergency number) immediately. Do not use the Service to address medical emergencies.
No Guarantee of Results
Every body is different, and individual results will vary. We make no guarantee or warranty that the Service will improve any particular condition, prevent injury, or produce any specific outcome. References to research or evidence-based techniques describe the general approach behind our content and are not a promise of results for any individual.
Third-Party Content and Links
The Service may reference or link to third-party products, websites, or information. These are provided for convenience only and do not constitute an endorsement or a medical recommendation. We are not responsible for the accuracy, safety, or content of third-party materials, and any decisions you make based on them are at your own risk.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Sporty Doctor, Dr. Kristina DeMatas, and anyone associated with the Service will not be liable for any injury, loss, or damage of any kind arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service or any content within it. Your use of the Service is at your sole risk.
